About This Class

This 60-minute "No Vinyasa" flow replaces the usual chaturanga-cobra-down dog transitions with energy-conserving pivots between standing poses, freeing students to go deeper into hip openers, twists, and balancing sequences without burning out. Bryan Kest opens with an extended breathwork tutorial in child's pose, establishing nasal, smooth, deep breathing as the through-line for the entire class. The sequence moves through down dog, cobra warm-ups, warrior I, warrior II (called "hero"), lateral side stretches, deep lunge progressions with arm wraps and binds (including a pose he calls "Mr. Thyburn"), pigeon-style hip openers, bow pose, and a shoulderstand described as the "king or queen of all yoga poses." The class closes with supine spinal twists, a brief compression, and a long savasana. Throughout, Kest frames the practice around quieting the mind, aging gracefully, and building a healthy relationship with sensation — making it equally suitable for stress relief and targeted mobility work for hips, spine, and shoulders.

A different kind of flow, with all the expected opportunities to strengthen, stretch, and breathe calmly through challenges. I understand vinyasa to translate to, “to place in a sacred way”, or “to place with intention”, so even though I understand the title, Bryan’s teachings and classes are always brimming with intention, so they’re all vinyasa, in my eyes. Thank you, B.K.!
