About This Class
This class opens on the floor in a reclined butterfly position, where Bryan establishes the two pillars of the practice: deep, free breathing and present-moment awareness. From there, the class moves through a progressively warming sequence that includes bridge/tabletop hip lifts, shoulder stand (Sarvangasana) with a "Leaning Tower of Pisa" modification to protect the cervical spine, plow-like foot drops, wide-legged seated forward folds, and a series of dynamic sun-salutation-style flows synchronizing breath and movement. Flows incorporate crescent lunge, chair pose (Utkatasana), cobra (Bhujangasana), downward facing dog, plank, and Chaturanga. Standing sequences feature warrior-based shapes, twisting triangle, side-angle variations with a bound wrap option, and transitions that build hip mobility and quadricep strength. A prone backbend sequence culminates in bow pose (Dhanurasana) and a sustained full cobra. The cool-down features reclined pigeon-style hip openers, supine twists, and a knees-to-chest compression. The class closes with an extended seated gratitude meditation and a final resting pose (Savasana). Throughout, Bryan de-emphasizes performance and depth in favor of sensation-guided movement, calm breath, and mindfulness — framing the practice explicitly as meditation in motion.
