About This Class
This approachable yet comprehensive morning flow guides students through a full-body warm-up before diving deep into hip-opening sequences. The class opens in Child's Pose and Vajrasana with breath awareness and intention-setting, then builds steadily through Sun Salutation A and B variations with Chaturanga, Upward Dog, and Downward Dog. The standing sequences explore Warrior I, Warrior II, extended side angle, Half Moon (Ardha Chandrasana), and Chapasana, all woven together with mindful Ujjayi breath. Hip-opening highlights include lizard-style forward folds with fingertip crawls, pigeon-like prone stretches, tripod backbends, horse stance twists, and deep Malasana-based work. Balancing poses include Figure-4 (standing pigeon), hand-to-big-toe variations, and half-lotus standing. The floor sequence features supine bicycles (54 reps), bridge pose, happy baby, plow, shoulder stand, and supine twists before a restful Savasana. Optional arm balances—Crow (Bakasana) and Eight-Angle Pose—are offered for those ready. The instructor consistently invites blocks and modifications, frames the practice as a moving meditation, and emphasizes comfort and awareness in every shape.
