About This Class
This vintage Bryan Kest power yoga class weaves together vigorous vinyasa flow, deep hip openers, backbends, and grounding floor work into a cohesive 50-minute practice. The class opens with a standing forward fold to release the spine and hamstrings, then builds heat through repeated Sun Salutation-style sequences pairing Chaturanga, Up Dog, and Down Dog with warrior lunges, airplane balance, and side plank variations. Standing wide-legged forward folds and Warrior-derived twists challenge strength, balance, and flexibility simultaneously, while poses like the prayer balancing twist and runner's stretch target the hips, groin, and piriformis. A prone backbend series — including locust and bow — wakes up the spine before the class transitions to seated wide-leg forward fold, plow, supine twists, and a final Savasana. Throughout, Kest frames the practice as tension release through breath and calm approach, encouraging students to back off when needed and honour their own edge rather than compete. Props are not called for, and the only contraindication surfaced is around wrist-loading push-up variations — students are invited to drop knees as needed.

I had all 3 of Brian’s classes on VHS tapes back in early 2000s. I decided to do some old school this morning and I’m so glad I did. My mood has completely shifted into a positive frame of mind. Viva Yoga and Viva our Maestro BK…😎🙏
