About This Class

This vintage Bryan Kest power flow opens with a standing forward fold to settle the breath and release the hamstrings before moving into repeated rounds of Salutation A and B to generate heat. The standing sequence layers Warrior I, Warrior II, Side Angle, Twisted/Prayer Lunge, Revolved Triangle, and Tree Pose, with consistent coaching around spinal length, decompression, and a calm, non-reactive mind. Hip work is central: pigeon pose (runner's stretch) and a deep forearm-to-floor version are held with encouragement to breathe into the piriformis and hip-socket tension. Core strength is addressed through Navasana (boat pose) and Reverse Table holds. A kneeling Camel backbend opens the front body and spine before the class winds down with a seated forward fold, supine knee-to-chest squeezes, and spinal twists to release the lower back, finishing in Shavasana. Throughout, Bryan explicitly links the physical practice to releasing daily stress and tension, quieting the mind, and developing equanimity — making this class equally suited to physical conditioning and stress relief.

When I first started practicing with you, it was on VHS tapes. That was two countries ago, one husband ago, a child who is now a young woman, and all the animals that surrounded me then have been replaced with a new set, but the one constant has been my yoga practice. Haven’t deviated for 25 years. And a lot of that is thanks to you BK. Namaste…

Love your vintage series…always so fun to see you demo and I dig the chill vibe. I’m 25 again!

I had these dvds and because I loved them and missed them I searched the web to see if I could stream them. The rabbit hole led me to this site. I’ve been doing many of the other classes but just discovered the vintage classes. IT MADE MY DAY. These vintage classes are one of many reasons why I love Yoga, especially the more Ashtanga based flow.

First time doing a vintage Bryan class – needless say – it was just as amazing as the new ones! It was fun to go through a slightly different style from before. Cool music. 🙂

One I have been repeating for YEARS as I own the videos. Such a complete class!

“Perseverance, Fortitude, Tenacity, Breath…” Where it all began. Still as good as ever.

I about fell over when I saw this on the site! It was the first yoga routine I ever did. It was a treasure to revisit. Bryan, thank you for being so forward thinking with the heart to make yoga accessible to everyone. I was in Missouri and yoga studios were few and far between back then. I did these three yoga practices for years and they felt different everyday. This was a fun treat for a Monday post work!

Thanks for bringing these back. I started my yoga practice in 1998 with these VHS tapes! Still great today.
