About This Class
Bryan Kest leads an expansive 95-minute power yoga flow that begins in Child's Pose with a strong foundation in nasal, deep, and smooth breathing as the gateway to meditation and presence. The class builds gradually — warming the spine with Cobra pulses, progressing through Down Dog, Plank, Crescent Lunge, and Warrior-based flows with increasing vigor. A central "spot yoga" sequence (developed in a small space) covers twists, elbow balance/tripod headstand, deep squats, and standing balances on each leg including Tree, Warrior III-style airplane, and extended hand-to-big-toe pose. Floor work includes double pigeon/Fire Log hip openers, wide-leg forward folds, supine leg stretches, happy baby, boat-like core work, plow, and Shoulderstand before a final round of supine twists and Savasana. Throughout, Kest consistently frames the practice as a meditation — cultivating a quiet mind, reducing stress, and aging gracefully — rather than a performance. Modifications (knees down, blocks, tripod) are offered repeatedly, and the instructor explicitly invites students with lower back issues to widen their stance.
