About This Class

This class is organized around four unique triangle sequences, each exploring the triangular geometry of the body from a different base position: both feet on the floor, one-legged standing balance, airplane balance, and a supine floor series. Each sequence is performed on both sides before moving to the next, creating a thorough and varied exploration of the hips, hamstrings, side body, and spine. The class opens with child's pose and a gentle seated hip/knee warm-up, then builds through down dog, bird-dog extensions, plank, chin-to-floor push-ups, cobra, locust, and bow pose (dhanurasana) to warm the back body. The supine floor series delivers an intricate hamstring and hip-opening sequence with leg lifts, spinal twists, a standing head-to-knee-inspired pose, and boat-pose-style core holds, followed by plow and shoulder stand. Throughout, instructor Bryan Kest returns repeatedly to the primacy of deep, fluid breathing as a proxy for calmness and focus, framing the physical practice as a vehicle for stress reduction and mindful presence. The class closes with a long savasana and a mindfulness cue to carry present-moment awareness into daily life.

This may be one of my new all time fave flows – loved the variations on triangle, which is always my fave pose. Such a different flow through the poses and balancing. Feel strong and blissful! Love the hat too – like a proper holiday elf! Had the heater blasting too in Bklyn.
