About This Class

Bryan Kest leads a deliberately unhurried gentle flow designed to slip students into movement so gradually they barely notice the challenge beginning. Starting in Child's Pose to settle the breath and mind, the class builds through Down Dog, a carefully deconstructed Cobra-to-Plank Sun Salutation sequence (treated as a moving meditation akin to Tai Chi), one-handed Down Dog variations, Locust with interlaced hands, Bow Pose, Crescent Lunge, Prayer Twist, Warrior III/Airplane, Half-Moon, standing balance work (knee-to-chest and leg lifts), deep squat shoulder wraps, supine hip openers (Happy Baby, straddle legs), core work (scissor legs, both-legs-up), Plow, Shoulderstand, and supine twists before settling into Savasana. Throughout, Bryan repeatedly frames the practice around moderation, gentleness, and breath-as-meditation — encouraging students to modify, skip, or back off at every turn. The class suits anyone dealing with general stiffness, tight hips or hamstrings, desk posture, mild stress, or low back tightness, and is equally appropriate for those returning to movement or simply wanting a thorough, mindful full-body tune-up.

A very well-rounded, full class, and a powerful reminder that sweetness, lightness, and gentleness have so much more to do with our approach and attitude than with the external experience. The sequence had plenty of opportunities to be challenged, to build strength, and to find balance, as well as equal opportunity to find our unique place within that experience where we can feel safe and calm. The modifications are simple, and the instruction points to those possibilities, but perhaps this isn’t the most approachable class for a beginner or someone uncertain about how to find that personal place — I’m not really sure. As usual, Bryan weaves classes that encourage us to find where we need to be, if we’re willing to listen. Thank you, B.K.

    Thank you !!

Really enjoyed the class. Love how BK can make a somewhat easy less flowing class very challenging.

Long standing flow series. I liked that it efficiently packed a lot of poses into one hour

  • Jill

Didn’t find it light, gentle or approachable. Even Bryan commented that one of the sequences was challenging!

Great flow, fairly vigorous for a “gentle” class.

Thank you, Bryan, your practices help me seek two aspects of my human psyche, of which you frequently remind us, and those elements are Humility and Moderation. May the human inhabitants of our planet seek peace and healing, during these trying times.

Great flow. I love the balance practice as I enter my seventh decade on this precious earth, I need the practice. Thank Bryan for another great one ??

What a wonderful, loving flow for my re-entry. I’ve been away for awhile. A long while. And this was exactly what I needed to remind me of how much I love to practice yoga. It is so good to be back. Bryan, you are a gentle genius.
