About This Class
This Yoga Nidra session by Eric Bennewitz is a fully floor-based, supine guided meditation designed to systematically quiet the body and mind. The practice opens with conscious breath awareness and a countdown technique, followed by humming (letter "M" vibration) to settle the nervous system. Students are then led to establish a personal "place of peacefulness" and set a heartfelt intention. A detailed body-point rotation (pratyahara-style awareness) moves from the third eye down through the fingertips, torso, and toes, and back again, activating the body's natural energetic healing system. Breath visualization follows — a "blue wave" flowing up and down the spine — paired with alternating sensations of heaviness and weightlessness to deepen surrender. The second half of the class uses vivid ocean imagery and self-affirmations ("I trust myself," "I flow with life in ease and peace," "I love myself," "I am already whole") to wash away held emotions and unwanted habits. The session closes by expanding awareness into boundless sky consciousness, recalling the original intention, and gently returning to the body. A blanket is the only optional prop. The mood is deeply calming, restorative, and grounding, suited for any time of day but especially powerful in the evening or before sleep.
