About This Class
Bryan Kest guides students through a comprehensive power yoga flow that begins with a mindful, breath-centered child's pose before methodically layering in intensity. The class progresses through downward facing dog, cobra variations, locust-style backbody strengthening, bow pose, plank work, and a rich series of one-armed balance variations that challenge strength, coordination, and focus simultaneously. Standing balance sequences include leg-extended standing poses, airplane (warrior III-style), half-moon with block options, and knee-to-chest holds with straight-leg extensions. A floor-based hip-opening sequence moves through wide-knee forward folds, pigeon-prep variations, and seated half-lotus forward folds targeting the knees, hips, hamstrings, and IT band. Core work features scissor-leg holds and a plow/shoulder stand sequence used as a restorative inversion. The class closes with supine spinal twists and a brief savasana. Throughout, Bryan weaves in strong philosophical cues around breath-led mindfulness, non-aggression toward the body, and the wisdom of finding the personal "sweet spot" between too much and not enough. Props such as blocks are offered as options. The overall tone is challenging yet deeply inclusive, with constant reminders to modify and honor individual sensation.
