About This Class
This energetic flow class opens in child's pose with an extended focus on diaphragmatic breathing before moving through a progressive warm-up: cat-cow, bird-dog, and innovative shoulder "flossing" drills in tabletop, plank, and downward dog that build stability in the shoulder's connective muscles. The standing sequence is deliberately led left-side first — a conscious asymmetry the instructor frames as a mindfulness device — and includes low lunge, crescent pose, Warrior One, Warrior Two, reverse Warrior, extended side angle, standing splits prep, and half-moon balance (with a signature counterclockwise hand rotation cue to seat the shoulder head). A rolling-wave vinyasa (tippy-toe plank-to-upward dog-to-down dog) recurs throughout to train spinal articulation and posterior-chain control. Core work on the back features single-leg reach-and-tremble holds and a bicycle-style cross crunch. The floor cool-down progresses through happy baby, yogi squat, pigeon on both sides, butterfly forward fold, seated forward fold, bridge, optional wheel (Urdhva Dhanurasana), shoulderstand/plow variation, and final spinal twists before a guided Savasana. Byron weaves philosophy throughout — non-attachment, left-brain/right-brain balance, and the breath as primary teacher — making the class equally rich for mind and body.
