About This Class
Fire & Water with Bryan Kest is a richly layered 97-minute dynamic flow that opens on the back with deep, slow breathing before moving through supine twists, bridge pose, shoulder stand, plow, and wide-legged forward folds. The class then builds into a flowing Surya Namaskar-style sequence—downward dog, plank, low cobra, and standing forward folds—repeated until the breath and movement are seamlessly married. A challenging standing-balance section follows, featuring warrior flows, airplane (Warrior III), bent-knee balancing, and one-legged squats, punctuated by crow pose and tripod headstand. A vigorous crescent-lunge series includes core twists, heart-opening backbends, and deep hip and quad stretches. Backbody work peaks with locust variations and full bow pose before the practice winds down through seated forward folds, a core sequence, supine spinal twists with figure-four hip openers, and a long, silent Savasana with a gratitude meditation. Throughout, Bryan frames yoga as a meditation practice—using breath as the primary tool to cultivate calmness, presence, humility, and gentleness—ensuring nothing is ever pushed to injury while every part of the body receives attention.
