About This Class
This dynamic flow class centers on finding, activating, and strengthening the glute and hamstring muscles while building a well-rounded full-body practice. Steve Jones opens on the floor with hip-opening sequences — half happy baby, supine twists, thread-the-needle, and reclined figure-four variations — before moving to tabletop for focused hamstring curls and leg lifts that isolate the glutes. The practice progresses through downward dog, crescent pose, Warrior One, and standing splits with consistent cues to press the sitting bone down, lift the hip points, and engage the inner thighs to keep the pelvis stable. Twisting lunges, wide-legged forward folds, and side-angle variations add spinal rotation and adductor work. Core sequences — plank, forearm plank, side forearm plank, and modified push-ups with heels lifted — reinforce the glute engagement established throughout. A standing balance sequence featuring half happy baby standing and figure-four balance transfers the floor hip work upright. The floor cool-down revisits Gomukhasana, Janu Sirsasana, Supta Baddha Konasana, and a brief seated meditation before Savasana. Constant reminders to soften the jaw, breathe deeply, and listen to the body give the class a mindful, body-aware tone despite its physical intensity.
