About This Class
Bryan Kest leads an expansive, breath-centered flow that begins gently in Child's Pose and builds methodically through a carefully rehearsed sun salutation sequence — Downward Facing Dog, Forward Fold, Cobra, Plank, and Chaturanga — before layering in Runner's Lunge, Crescent Lunge, Core Twist, and heart-opening backbends. Single-leg balance sequences (Warrior III-style "airplane," standing splits with toe-hold, and hand-to-big-toe variations) target the glutes, hamstrings, and hip flexors while constantly demanding focused, nasal breath and a calm mind. Deep hip-opening work on the floor — including a detailed 90-degree knee hip stretch and cross-body hip stretch — rounds out the physical practice. A reclined core series, plow-like spinal compression, and shoulder stand complement the standing work. Throughout, Bryan repeatedly invites students to self-regulate intensity ("eat what you want from the buffet"), discourages comparison, and frames the entire practice as a moving meditation. The class closes with a 5-minute seated gratitude meditation and a brief savasana, underscoring the philosophy that mental training is at least as important as the physical postures.
