About This Class
Bryan Kest guides this rich, full-body flow with a signature philosophy of gentleness over force — encouraging practitioners to find their own "sensuous degree" rather than push to extremes. The class opens in child's pose and down dog, warming the body through several rounds of a sun-salutation-style vinyasa (plank, cobra, down dog) before moving into standing forward folds with airplane-arm variations and lateral side bends. A highlight is a two-sided standing balance sequence that progresses from airplane pose into half-moon, building focus and core stability. Upper-body strength is addressed through dolphin pose, low push-up variations (chin-to-floor), and locust pose with interlaced fingers. Backbending peaks in camel pose (kneeling). The floor sequence features a thorough hip and hamstring series — seated twists, half-lotus forward folds over an extended leg, and a cross-leg hip stretch pulling the foot toward the opposite ear — performed on both sides. Supine spinal twists with optional knee-over variations provide a cool-down before the class closes with a seated gratitude meditation and savasana. Throughout, Bryan weaves in mindfulness teachings on beginner's mind, non-attachment to progress, and the yoga of self-steering.
