About This Class
This dynamic 52-minute power yoga class with Bryan Kest opens with a standing forward fold and Ashtanga-style warm-up vinyasas designed to generate heat quickly. The flow moves through repeated Sun Salutation-like sequences — including Chaturanga, Upward Dog, and Downward Dog — before progressing into Warrior I, extended side angle, standing splits variations, twists, and balancing poses like hand-to-big-toe. A vigorous standing wide-legged forward fold series with interlaced fingers follows, then the class transitions to the floor for bicycle crunches, bridge, full wheel, seated forward folds (both single-leg and half-lotus), Baddha Konasana, Pigeon-style hip openers, a spinal inversion (plow), and supine twists before a long Savasana. Throughout, Bryan frames the practice around breath primacy, equanimity under sensation, dissolving tension rather than chasing flexibility, and building balanced strength alongside mobility. He explicitly coaches students to back off whenever the breath is compromised, making the class accessible to multiple levels through consistent modifications.

Classic! And intense. Interesting to see how Bryan has softened and expanded teaching directions over the years.
