About This Class
Rudy Mettia leads a dynamic yet unhurried 31-minute flow class he dubs the "Tai Chi of Yoga" — the guiding principle being continuous, breath-driven movement rather than speed. The class opens in Downward Facing Dog with mindful plank-to-dog pulses that engage the core like a reverse crunch. From there, Rudy builds a repeating crescent-based sequence on both sides: leg lifts, knee-to-elbow core work, low-lunge pumps, standing twists, Warrior Two, Revolve Warrior, and extended side angle variations. The flow escalates into balance challenges — Triangle, Half Moon (Ardha Chandrasana) with toe-tap pulses for hip stability, and Standing Split with pulsing leg lifts to strengthen the lower back and psoas. A psoas-specific standing balance drill (slow knee lifts past 90 degrees) is performed on each leg. The floor segment introduces a demanding side-plank-adjacent sequence with knee-to-tricep core work and cat-cow before a final supine twist and Savasana. Throughout, Rudy emphasizes moving with breath over muscular effort, working with compassion around areas of weakness or old injury, and balancing effort with moments of stillness.
