About This Class
This evening flow class is built entirely around unlocking and strengthening the side body — the intercostal muscles, obliques, and lateral spine — through a carefully layered progression. Steve opens with seated breathwork and shoulder openers before moving through a Tabletop-based lateral leg sweep series that introduces the side-body theme early. A grounded Down Dog warm-up leads into Crescent Lunge lateral reaches, half-moon side stretches, and Side Angle Pose with deep tricep-wrap extensions. Two rounds of Navasana and Ardha Navasana with oblique tilts build core awareness, while forearm plank and side-forearm plank integrate that strength. Standing sequences include Warrior Two, Side Angle, Revolved Triangle, and Triangle with ear-hold variations that layer increasingly deep lateral lengthening. Wide-legged forward folds, Gate Pose (Parighasana) from a kneeling position, Garudasana, and Camel Pose round out the yang work before a long, nurturing floor sequence of supine twists, Baddha Konasana, half and full Upavishtha Konasana with side-stretch variations, and seated forward folds. The class closes with a guided seated or supine meditation focused on breath awareness, making it ideal as an evening practice to decompress, release tension from prolonged sitting, and restore full lateral range of motion.

Fantastic, strong and creative class.

This is beyond sweet. After months of stress with my son’s cancer and treatment, today was the last day of all treatments for a while. This brought me much focus and joy. LOVE the side stretches and twists. Squeezed all the negative “stuff” out. Thank you Steve!!

THE perfect practice for those days when your back wakes up angry! I like how the ab work is sprinkled in between sequences so it’s more doable for anyone without abs of steel. Maybe I would have liked a little more flow and a shorter cool-down and stretch in the end but, all in all, I’m grateful for this practice. Thank you!

Thank you for bringing back this class – I have done it dozens of times. It always corrects my longstanding back issues when they flare up and keeps them in check in between.
