About This Class

This expansive class opens gently in child's pose, using the first several minutes purely to establish deep nasal breathing and an inward, non-competitive mindset that Bryan Kest returns to throughout the session. The physical practice unfolds in carefully layered stages: a standing warm-up with side bends and forward folds; a progressively more fluid sun-salutation-style vinyasa linking plank, cobra, and downward-facing dog; standing balance sequences (Urdhva Prasarita Eka Pada / standing splits, crescent lunge, core twist, warrior-style lunges, and an elaborate airplane-to-standing-splits-to-side-angle flow); prone backbends including locust variations and bow pose; a wide-legged seated forward fold with lateral reaches over each leg; core work with leg lowering and forehead-to-knee crunches; shoulder stand and plow; and finally a supine spinal twist. Bryan consistently cues students to tune into sensation rather than depth, bend knees freely, modify or rest whenever needed, and treat the physical postures as a means of touching the body gently rather than forcing it. The class closes with an extended guided meditation on gratitude and a long Savasana, which Kest describes as the true purpose of everything that preceded it.
