About This Class
Bryan Kest leads a lengthy, breath-first vinyasa flow that opens with an extended settling-in period—child's pose, nostril breathing, and a foundational ujjayi-style breathwork orientation—before building methodically through repeated sun-salutation-style warm-up rounds. The class progresses through layered standing and balancing sequences (Warrior, Crescent Lunge, Twisting Lunge, "awkward airplane," and one-armed side plank variations), deep hip-opening work (standing frog, wide-legged forward fold, runner's lunge with forearm variations), and peak poses including Hanumanasana (vertical splits) and Bow Pose (Dhanurasana). The floor-based closing includes plow-like inversions, shoulderstand, seated wide-leg and bound-angle forward folds, Barakapotasana (archer pose), and a supine twist before arriving at a long Savasana preceded by a guided gratitude meditation. Throughout, Bryan emphasizes gentleness over extremity, continuous deep nasal breathing, self-pacing, and calming the mind as the true core of practice. Modifications such as dropping knees and using hands for support are consistently offered, and students are reminded that wrist surgery or fragile knees are reasons to skip specific poses.

Such a good, deep, long, classic class with Bryan in that gorgeous old studio. I call these long Sunday classes… “church.”

Phew! Even Bryan gave the class a 5-breath break at the end of the standing sequence! Long and strong, all the way to the 1hr 35min mark. Amazing practice that, indeed, leaves nothing untouched. Thank you!
