About This Class

Bryan Kest leads a full-hour flow rooted in the principle of moderation — finding the sweet spot between too much and not enough in every pose. The class opens in child's pose with an extended breathing foundation (nose breathing, deep diaphragmatic breath, smooth rhythm) before moving through progressively warming sun-salutation-style sequences: down dog, cobra, plank, and standing forward folds. Mid-class standing balance work includes one-legged airplane balancing, crescent lunge, twisted crescent lunge, and a standing knee-to-chest to straight-leg extension sequence on each side. Hip-opening work includes lizard lunge with elbows to the floor, a prone quad stretch (grabbing the ankle from low lunge), and wide-legged standing and seated forward folds. Back-body strengthening arrives through locust-family poses including the full "airplane" lift and interlaced-finger heart-opener. A forearm down-dog stretch targets the upper back and shoulders. The floor sequence closes with plow/legs-overhead, shoulder stand (Leaning Tower of Pisa), core scissor work, and a full supine twist before a generous Savasana. Throughout, Bryan explicitly frames the practice as meditative, self-referential, and sensation-driven, repeatedly coaching students to breathe freely, soften the jaw and neck, avoid strain, and treat every pose as a complete, sensuous experience. Modifications (knees down, fist instead of palm, back knee on the floor) are offered generously throughout.
