About This Class
This energizing power yoga class channels the philosophy and fluidity of Bruce Lee and Kung Fu, using the water element (jala) as a guiding metaphor throughout. The practice opens in child's pose and builds through multiple rounds of vinyasa, moving dynamically into standing warrior sequences creatively named "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" and "Karate Kid Pose," alongside traditional poses like Warrior One, Warrior Two, Humble Warrior, Reverse Warrior, Chair Pose, and Skandasana. Signature Kung Fu-style mudras and arm gestures are layered into warrior flows to evoke the yin-yang balance of strength and grace. Upper-body strength is tested with knuckle push-ups and tricep-hover arm balances. A three-stage core series—leg raises, rope climbs, and bicycle crunches—targets the lower and upper abdominals. The class concludes with hip-opening floor work including Thread-the-Needle Pigeon, Reclining Gomukhasana, and spinal twists, before settling into Shavasana. Bruce Lee quotes and references to chi, the solar plexus (Dandan/Kanda), and Vinyasa Vayu (outward flow of prana) infuse the practice with mindfulness, intention, and an empowering martial-arts spirit.
