About This Class
This energetic flow class with Byron is built around a central theme of backbending and heart-opening, framed through the instructor's philosophy of letting go — physically, mentally, and emotionally. The class begins on the floor with child's pose, tabletop balancing, core work (half boat, leg lowers), and bridge pose before gradually building into standing sequences. Students move through lunges (crescent and warrior one), triangle pose, half moon, and eagle pose, with repeated vinyasa flows linking cobra and downward dog. Creative transitions include "dancer's bridge" (a flowing backbend from a twisted lunge), bound half moon, and reverse warrior. Backbend intensity builds progressively from sphinx and locust variations on the floor, through low-lunge heart-openers, to an optional full wheel (upward facing bow) and camel pose on the knees. Hip openers are woven throughout, culminating in double pigeon (figure-four) and full pigeon pose on both sides. A pranayama box-breathing sequence is included mid-class. The practice closes with happy baby, bridge, supine twists, and an extended savasana, with the instructor consistently encouraging students to listen to their bodies, modify freely, and cultivate inner awareness over external achievement.

When Byron said “it took me 7 years to get this pose” I did the math and realized I last did this class probably 7 years ago. Oh well! It’s a great class with wonderful but mindful challenges.

Great option for days when you can’t squeeze in one of Byron’s amazing 90 minute practices. With this one I did need to modify a couple of poses here but that’s no problem. Other than that, the flow is very doable, interesting, and satisfying. Thank you!
