About This Class
This approachable kids' yoga class with Amanda Huggins is designed to teach children how to use yoga and breathing as tools for de-stressing and calming the mind. The class opens with a seated meditation in Sukhasana or fire log pose, introducing a four-part breath (inhale, pause, exhale, pause) to establish a steady, rhythmic calm. From there, Amanda guides students through gentle seated side stretches and forward folds used as a "moving meditation," always anchoring back to the breath. The sequence progresses through downward dog, chair pose with flowing arm movements, a standing forward fold with hands clasped behind the back, a seated cat-cow-style spinal movement, bridge pose with mindful lifts and lowering, and supine twists in a cactus/goalpost arm shape. The class closes by returning to the four-part breath and a final bow. Throughout, Amanda frames every pose as an opportunity to practice calm breathing, making this an ideal introduction to mindfulness and stress regulation for kids.
