About This Class
This class opens with an extended Iyengar-style standing section designed to establish technical alignment as a foundation for everything that follows. Wide-stance Star Pose, Warrior Two, Triangle, Extended Side Angle, Half Moon, and Crescent are explored with deliberate attention to joint positioning, muscle engagement, and breath before any flow begins. The middle third transitions into a Vinyasa/Ashtanga Series B rhythm — repeated rounds of Chair, Forward Fold, Plank, Chaturanga, Cobra/Upward Dog, Down Dog, and lunging Warriors — building cardiovascular momentum while maintaining the alignment awareness seeded in the opening. The instructor weaves in twisting variations (prayer twist from Crescent), bound variations of Triangle and Half Moon, Warrior Three balancing sequences, and a playful side-plank progression. The floor section addresses the core and back through Locust-family lifts, Navasana with lowering repetitions, Baddha Konasana, Pigeon on both sides, and a seated forward fold. The class finishes with Bridge Pose (with optional Wheel setup cues), Plow, Shoulder Stand, spinal twists, and an extended Savasana. Throughout, the instructor explicitly offers modifications for tight hamstrings, knee sensitivity, and wrist load, and invites students to skip Vinyasas to prioritize quality over repetition.
