About This Class
Hipnotic Asana is a 20-minute dynamic flow class built almost entirely around opening the hips through both internal and external rotation. Instructor Desiree Crossman guides students through a progressive sequence starting on the floor with child's pose and tabletop hip circles, moving into downward dog with leg circles, forward fold, and malasana (garland pose). The heart of the class explores deep hip-opening shapes on each side: crescent lunge, runner's lunge, pigeon pose (with a figure-four supine alternative), Bharadvajasana twist, fire log pose (half and full), butterfly, and a prone quad/internal-rotation stretch. The class closes with warrior two and a sumo stance before returning to child's pose. Throughout, Desiree consistently offers props (blocks and bolsters) and gentler modifications, and frames the practice around releasing tension and stress rather than forcing depth. Students who sit for long periods, experience tight hips or hamstrings, or want a methodical, meditative approach to hip mobility will find this class particularly well-suited to their needs.
