About This Class

Bryan Kest leads this characteristically unhurried yet comprehensive flow, opening with an extended child's pose and nasal pranayama (Ujjayi) to quiet the mind before any movement begins. A "pre warm-up" series of cobra repetitions and tabletop extensions eases the body in gradually — explicitly honoring students over 40 and those returning from injury. The class then builds through multiple rounds of a six-movement sun-salutation sequence (standing fold, flat-back, plank, chaturanga, cobra, down dog) woven together into a continuous, meditative flow. Standing balance work is layered in progressively: one-legged airplane, warrior-style lunges with twists, extended hand-to-big-toe variations, and a hip-opening bow-pose (dhanurasana) on the floor. Core strengthening arrives mid-class with leg-lowering holds and knee-to-elbow drills in plank. The floor closing sequence includes locust/bow pose for spinal extension, a wide-legged forward fold, plow pose, shoulder stand ("king of all yoga poses"), and a supine twist. The class culminates in a guided gratitude meditation in seated position, followed by a passive Savasana. Throughout, Bryan consistently encourages students to work to their own degree, avoid comparison, and prioritize breath quality over depth of pose — making this equally accessible to newer students and satisfying for experienced practitioners.
