About This Class
In this short instructional class, Bryan Kest walks students through Half Moon Pose (Ardha Chandrasana) with careful attention to accessibility and progression. Starting from a standing forward bend, students lift one leg to the sky while grounding through the standing foot and placing fingertips or a block on the floor beneath the shoulder. Bryan emphasizes that balance is the top priority — encouraging students to spend time stabilizing before adding layers. Once balance is established, he introduces active engagement of both legs, spinal lengthening, drawing the chest away from the hips, and opening through the lifted hip and chest. Optional gaze variations (looking up at the raised hand or down at the floor hand) are offered as balance challenges or relief for the neck. The overall framing is exploratory and gentle, making this ideal for students building confidence in standing balance poses.

Always struggle with balance on this one. Thanks for the tip on putting the hand outside of the shoulder for added stability. I’ll try that!
