About This Class

This 71-minute class, playfully titled "Geriatric with a Little Spring Chicken," is Bryan Kest's invitation to practice yoga with radical gentleness and self-honesty. Beginning in Child's Pose and building through Down Dog, Cobra, Plank, and flowing Sun Salutation-style sequences, the class methodically warms the body before layering in more demanding elements like Warrior, runner's lunge, deep hip openers, a shoulder-wrapping bind, shoulder stand (Sarvangasana), Plow Pose, and a supine core series. Throughout, Bryan returns obsessively to three pillars: deep nasal breathing as a tool for focus and stress reduction, moderation over intensity ("somewhere between too much and not enough"), and listening to one's own body rather than following external cues or ego. Hip flexors, hamstrings, glutes, spine, shoulders, and core all receive dedicated attention. The class closes with reclined twists, supine hip stretches, and an extended Savasana. It is explicitly framed as accessible to beginners, older practitioners, and anyone who benefits from backing off aggression in their movement practice — while still offering options for those wanting more challenge.
