About This Class
This energizing flow class with Bryan Kest opens gently in Child's Pose and Down Dog before building into a warming vinyasa rhythm that weaves together Plank, modified Up Dog, Cobra, and Down Dog as a repeating spine-awakening sequence. Students work through creative variations including twisting Down Dog, Side Plank with lateral stretch, and "Awkward Airplane" — a prone balancing pose demanding pure muscular engagement. The standing sequence features forward folds, Twisting Triangle, and Warrior-inspired lunges with dynamic hero-press repetitions, cycling each pose five times before a five-breath hold — a structure Kest attributes to T. Krishnamacharya's "dynamic flow" lineage. The floor work includes Baddha Konasana, reverse tabletop pulses, seated leg lifts, Navasana-style balance, Paschimottanasana, Plow Pose with controlled rolling, Shoulder Stand, and a supine spinal twist series closing in Savasana. Throughout, Kest frames the practice around breath freedom as the ultimate measure of effort, consistently coaching students to err on the side of gentleness and find their own degree in every pose. The class suits those dealing with desk-posture tension, tight hips and hamstrings, and a need to decompress both physically and mentally.

I have new ideas for my yoga classes now. It’s always great to do traditional poses in such a different and deliberate way. I really had to think about what I was doing.

As this flow was a little bit out of the box, it was a bit if a challenge to my equanimity and expectations. Always great to challenge those muscles too:) So grateful for this practice!
