About This Class
Bryan Kest leads a 71-minute floor-based power yoga flow intentionally kept "low to the ground," with no standing poses at all. The class opens in child's pose and down dog before moving into crawling sequences of cat-cow with extended leg variations, plank, cobra, and locust/airplane holds that build heat in the back body. Three-legged dog transitions evolve progressively into kneeling side-plank balances (first with knee down, then full), integrating shoulder openers, quad stretches, and a bound bow pose. The standing-on-knees section introduces lateral side bends, camel variations, and a twisting camel. The floor cool-down features a wide-legged seated forward fold with lateral crawls to each leg, a supine spinal twist, and a long Savasana. Throughout, Bryan repeatedly coaches students to seek "sweet spots" rather than push through pain, to use props and modifications freely (fists for wrist sensitivity, knee down for balance), and to treat each breath as a meditation anchor. The session is framed as active recovery — ideal after harder cardio-heavy classes — targeting the back body, shoulders, hips, and hamstrings while building functional strength, balance, and spinal mobility.
