About This Class
Bryan Kest leads this signature long-form Power Yoga flow, opening in child's pose with detailed instruction on deep nasal breathing as the foundation of the entire practice. From there the class builds progressively through downward-facing dog, cobra warm-up series, and a flowing sun-salutation sequence (plank, cobra, down dog) repeated multiple times at increasing pace. Standing balance sequences include warrior-style runner's lunges, airplane (Warrior III variation), standing leg extensions, and half-moon-style side openers. Core work features navasana (boat pose), twisted oblique holds, and a balancing spread-leg sequence culminating in the playful "Barack Obamasana" (archer pose / Akarna Dhanurasana). Backbody strengthening is addressed with locust/bow variations held for extended counts. The class winds down with baddha konasana, plow, shoulderstand, supine hip openers, and spinal twists before a guided savasana emphasizing sensory awareness over mental drift. Throughout, Kest repeatedly cues students to breathe deeply and freely, modify freely, avoid comparison, and find personal moderation — framing the practice as self-care rather than performance.

Grateful for the opportunity to stay in poses for a little longer in this old school class!

Hard pass.

Great practice, long and strong. The actual Barack Obamanasana sequence at the end is definitely not for anyone with very tight hips and hamstrings (I’m one of those folks) so one may want to modify with some simpler boat poses and side-oblique exercises. Overall though, a must try! Thank you!
