About This Class
Bryan Kest leads this full-body Power Yoga flow in his signature style, framing every physical challenge as a practice in calmness and equanimity. The class opens gently on the floor with deep diaphragmatic breathing to quiet the mind, then builds through repeated sun-salutation-style rounds (Down Dog, plank, Cobra, standing forward fold) that he calls a "dress rehearsal" before the flow becomes more continuous. The middle section introduces a rich standing sequence: one-legged balances, Warrior-style bent-knee balancing, twists, airplane (Warrior III variation), side plank, and a progression of deep hip-flexor lunges culminating in low lunge, crescent, and pigeon-style hip openers on both sides. Back-body strengthening is woven throughout with locust-style lifts and bow-prep holds. The class closes with a wide-legged forward fold, supine core work (leg lowers, scissor switches, hollow-body reaches), plow, shoulder stand, supine twists, and a long Savasana. Throughout, Bryan repeatedly returns to breath awareness as the non-negotiable anchor, encouraging modifications freely and reminding students that calmness—not depth or form—is the true goal.
