About This Class
Bryan Kest's "Wrap-Sody" is a long-form dynamic flow class that opens with an extended, unhurried child's pose and deep nasal breathing to establish a meditative foundation before easing into movement. The warm-up progresses through multiple rounds of a six-movement sun-salutation-style series — standing forward folds, cobra, plank, chaturanga, downward dog, and crescent lunge — building pace and body heat gradually. Once warm, the class introduces its signature "wrap" sequences: from down dog, runners lunge, and warrior stances, practitioners thread arms around legs to clasp hands, opening the shoulders, chest, and hips simultaneously. These wrapping binds are also explored in wide-legged standing forward folds and low lunge variations. Additional highlights include balancing poses (warrior III-style), twists in lunge, a prone locust/bow sequence to activate the posterior chain, shoulderstand (plow into legs-up), supine happy-baby and toe-hold core work, and supine twists. Throughout, Bryan emphasizes breath freedom, self-pacing, sensitivity over ambition, and calm in difficulty. The class closes with roughly seven minutes of seated gratitude meditation and a brief savasana.
