About This Class
In this short but detailed tutorial, Bryan Kest unpacks Twisting Triangle (Parivrtta Trikonasana) as one of yoga's most dynamic poses. Starting in Child's Pose, the sequence moves through Hands and Knees and Downward Facing Dog before stepping into a lunge and transitioning to the full standing twist. Bryan offers thoughtful alignment cues throughout: keeping the back foot firmly planted as an anchor, distributing weight evenly across the front foot to engage both inner and outer hamstrings, pressing the front leg straight to lengthen the hip, pulling the spine long to avoid grinding in the twist, and using strong arm engagement — pushing down with the bottom arm and reaching long with the top — to widen the wingspan. The neck is given a choice: gaze up at the raised hand if comfortable, or look down. The chest opens progressively into the twist, with Bryan using the vivid image of a beam of light shooting from the chest toward the ceiling. A block is demonstrated as an optional prop to support the bottom hand. The class closes by releasing back through a lunge, Plank, and a slow lower-down.
