About This Class
This expansive flow class with Michelle Goldstein uses the physical architecture of yoga — Cobras, Chaturangas, Warriors, standing balances, inversions, and hip openers — as a vehicle for a deeper philosophical inquiry: recognizing the difference between the thinking mind and the living moment. The class opens in Child's Pose and builds through progressive Sun Salutations (including detailed Chaturanga coaching to protect the elbows), Crescent Pose, Warrior One and Two, Triangle, Side Angle, Eagle, Half Moon, Dancer's Pose (Natarajasana), and Half Lotus balance sequences. The standing work is interspersed with Michelle's warm, candid commentary on ego, loving kindness, gratitude, truth, and the practice of listening to the body over the demands of the ego. The floor sequence includes Bridge and Wheel, Happy Baby, seated spinal twists, wide-legged forward fold, Paschimottanasana, Plow, Shoulder Stand, and supine hip openers (thread the needle / figure-four), closing in Savasana and a seated meditation on immersing in the moment with grace. Props (blocks) are offered for Half Moon. The tone is simultaneously challenging and deeply compassionate — Michelle repeatedly invites students to use their knees, skip inversions, and work at 80% rather than full throttle.
