About This Class
Framed explicitly as a breathing practice from the very first cue, this dynamic flow uses the breath as the anchor for every transition and pose. The class opens seated with breath lengthening and upper-body warm-ups (shoulder openers, side stretches), progresses through tabletop, half downward dog, thread-the-needle, and cat-cow before building into a structured vinyasa spine of plank, Chaturanga, cobra, and Downward Facing Dog. Standing work includes crescent lunges, Warrior Two, Side Angle Pose with bind options, Triangle with a supported head variation, and balancing sequences — Warrior Three–style one-legged balance and Figure-Four chair (Eka Pada Utkatasana). A challenging IT-band stretch in plank/Chaturanga position appears on both sides. Locust Pose and its variations build posterior-chain strength. The floor sequence closes with supine Figure-Four, a reclined spinal twist, plow-like plough variation, Supta Baddha Konasana, and three rounds of Viloma pranayama (three-part inhale with pauses, long exhale, and breath retention at the bottom). Throughout, the instructor continually returns to breath quality — smooth, deep, unrushed — as the primary measure of effort and the key to unlocking each pose.

Wonderful class, very vigorous. I feel wonderful after doing it. After taking the class like 4 times, I figured out why you apologized- right before that you jokingly told the class to ‘grit your teeth, hold your breath, and straighten your leg’ – then you immediately retracted because you were obviously joking, but I think you felt that it wasn’t a good idea, even in jest.

Steve, thank you, I fully agree with Janepark that you have no need to apologize. Your practice is excellent in focusing on balance, the upper and lower bodies, while highly stimulating the heart and lungs- just what we need in developing healthier immune systems. Happy New Year!
