About This Class
In this short instructional class, Bryan Kest guides Melissa through a detailed exploration of the lunge pose, specifically a side lunge variation. The sequence begins in Child's Pose, transitions through Down Dog with a leg lift, and lands in a deep lunge with the back foot flat and the front knee at 90 degrees. Bryan carefully layers in alignment cues — placing the hand on the outside of the front foot (with block options for shorter arms), pressing the outer edge of the back foot, and then progressively opening the arm, chest, quadricep, and inner leg by pressing the knee into the arm. A final reach of the top arm over the ear creates a long lateral stretch through the ribs, lats, and kidneys. The exit flows through plank and into a vinyasa. The class is approachable, methodical, and ideal for practitioners wanting to understand and deeply feel the mechanics of a side lunge.
