About This Class

This 85-minute Healthy Hips Yin Yoga class with Travis Eliot is a floor-based, long-hold practice designed to give the hips sustained, thorough attention. Moving at a deliberately slow pace, the class works through supine hip openers, pigeon pose (Swan), half cow pose, Gomukhasana (shoelace), seated double pigeon, spinal twists, and a closing bridge sequence — with most poses held three to five minutes to penetrate ligaments, connective tissue, fascia, and joint capsules. Travis weaves in Taoist philosophy (Lao Tzu on suppleness), mindfulness instruction around present-moment awareness and non-attachment, and anatomical context (internal hip rotation, hip flexor release). Props such as blocks and bolsters are regularly offered. The class opens and closes in Savasana and is framed as an evening wind-down, inviting practitioners to shift from the busyness of daily life into stillness, release stored tension, and cultivate a more supple, adaptive body and mind.
