About This Class

In this 73-minute Flying Phoenix Heavenly Qigong class, instructor Terry Kvasnik leads a deeply internal, slow-paced practice rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine principles. The session opens with gentle joint mobilization from head to ankles — rolling, circling, and tapping along the major joints and meridians — before introducing three foundational positions: Monk Begging for Rice, Gazing at the Moon, and Monk Holding the Pearl, each linked to one of the three Dantians (lower, middle, and upper energy centers). The main sequence of seven movements weaves these positions together with flowing arm circles, weight shifts, twists, forward folds, and gentle back extensions, including brush the wild horse's mane, cat's paw, and pressing. Throughout, Terry emphasizes minimal muscular tension, continuous circular movement, belly breathing synchronized with motion, internal awareness, and visualization (holding the moon, a glass dome sealing energy). The class closes with a formal sealing sequence — a glass-dome visualization and Dantian spiral — to ground and integrate the chi cultivated during practice. Ideal for those seeking stress relief, mental stillness, improved energy flow, and a mindful movement practice accessible to all levels.
