About This Class

This Ba Duan Jin (Eight Brocades) Qigong class with Terry Kvasnik offers a complete, unhurried journey through eight classic silken movements — repeated six to eight times each at the practitioner's own pace and range. The session opens with full-body joint tapping (percussion along meridian lines from chest to feet) and gentle spinal twisting to wake up energy and release stagnation. Terry then guides students through standing Qigong sequences including: pushing up to the sky (triple burner), holding and circling the ball at the heart centre, drawing the bow and releasing the arrow, the bear rolling its head (lateral spinal twist), holding the stone with a sinking shoulder press, rising onto the balls of the feet with a head turn, and small-fist punching. Throughout, the instructor emphasises effortless, fluid movement, belly (Dantian) breathing, and a mindset of acceptance rather than achievement. The class closes with a standing meditation — hands held near the lower Dantian, six to eight closing breaths, and a visualised glass dome sealing in the practice's energy. The overall tone is deeply calming, grounding, and inward-focused, making it ideal for stress relief, low energy, general stiffness, and cultivating mindfulness in daily life.
