About This Class

Bryan Kest leads this richly philosophical 65-minute dynamic flow with an unwavering emphasis on deep, nasal breathing as the through-line of the entire practice. The class opens in Child's Pose and Downward Facing Dog to establish breath and body awareness, then builds through a "dress rehearsal" sun-salutation flow — including Cobra, Plank, and forward folds — before moving into more complex standing sequences. These sequences weave together Runner's Lunge, Balancing Lunge, Crescent Lunge, Prayer Twist, Warrior-style balance work (Airplane/Warrior III variations), and bent-knee balancing, targeting the hips, hamstrings, quadriceps, glutes, and upper body simultaneously. Dolphin Pose and one-armed Down Dog variations address shoulder and upper-back strength, while a wide-legged seated forward fold rounds out the lower-body mobility work. The floor sequence finishes with supine core work — leg lifts, scissors, and boat-style holds — followed by supine spinal twists and a sustained Savasana with guided meditation on quieting the mind. Throughout, Kest frames the practice as awareness training: noticing cultural conditioning around effort and striving, honoring sensation over ambition, and cultivating calmness as a skill. The class suits practitioners of varying levels thanks to constant modifications (knees-down options, blocks, fists for wrists) and a tone that is simultaneously challenging and deeply restorative in spirit.

A great sequence featuring plenty of strength, balance, and stretch, and of course, deep breaths and a lovely śvasana. Replete with new and familiar B.K.isms! Thank you for a delightfully challenging practice.
