About This Class
This class is a carefully sequenced, full-body flow designed around a central backbending arc. Rudy opens with extended child's pose and breathwork to settle the mind, then moves through forward folds, cat-cow, and foundational downward-facing dog work with precise hand and shoulder-blade cues. The standing sequence progresses through multiple rounds of chair pose, warriors one and two, deep lunges with twists, extended side angle, revolved triangle, half split, and crescent lunge — each pose framed as preparation for the backbend peak. Shoulder-opening drills (arm-behind-back stretches, eagle arms, elbow-clasp overhead) are woven throughout to free the shoulders for deeper spinal extension. Balancing work includes eagle pose held for a full minute, figure-four chair balance, and optional flying pigeon/crow. The peak sequence delivers two rounds each of camel (Ustrasana), bridge, and Urdhva Dhanurasana (upward-facing bow), with optional single-leg variations. The class closes with supine core work (boat-like double-leg hold), happy baby, reclined pigeon, supine twists, and a guided Savasana. Rudy's coaching consistently emphasizes quality of breath, muscular integration over passive flexibility, and finding power in simplicity.

I finished this class a little perplexed: how was I so tired when it really didn’t feel like a “robust” class with a lot of strength poses or a sweaty flow? I think it was the way Rudy’s instruction made me put a lot more thought and power into each movement. Definitely a unique experience, perfect for a day when you’re looking to move slow but make each move count! Thank you!

I rarely leave reviews because I enjoy all the power yoga classes but I found this class exceptional. There wasn’t one move or one breath out of sycn. Rudi’s directions were crystal clear. I loved the smooth steady balanced pace of this class. I didn’t love every pose but I felt totally supported and protected every step of the way. Would have like to have spent some more time backbending – but great class.
