About This Class

In this short, approachable tutorial, Bryan Kest guides students through Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana) with clear, mindful cuing designed to maximize spinal length and mobility. Starting from Child's Pose, students move through a crawling transition into Plank (with a knee-down modification offered), then lower to the floor before pressing into Cobra. Bryan emphasizes keeping the thighs grounded while straightening the elbows comfortably, digging into the palms to create traction through the lower back, and consciously directing the curve into the middle and upper back — areas he notes "so rarely get any love." Rolling the elbows in to spread the shoulders, softening the glutes, and maintaining a free breath are all highlighted as keys to awakening the full expression of the pose. The sequence closes with a transition through Plank to Downward Dog. The tone is calm, encouraging, and educational, making it ideal for building body awareness and relieving back tightness.
