About This Class

This 26-minute dynamic flow centers entirely on Muladhara, the first chakra, using intentional breathwork, standing balance postures, and floor work to help practitioners find a deep sense of grounding, stability, and security. Hilaire opens with Samasthiti and several rounds of Ujjayi pranayama with Mula Bandha and Kumbhaka (breath retention) to anchor energy at the base of the spine. The practice then moves through Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar) to build heat, before settling into longer-held Warrior One (Virabhadrasana One) on each side to root through the feet and activate the pelvic floor. Salabhasana (Locust Pose) is visited twice to ground the front body and build a sense of safety. Standing balance sequences — including Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana and Vrksasana (Tree Pose) — are used as the primary vehicle for re-establishing one's root, with the instructor guiding attention repeatedly to the pelvic floor, tail, and earth connection. The class closes with Paschimottanasana held with Bandha engagement, followed by five cycles of Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing) and a final Om. Throughout, Hilaire frames the practice as a resource for moments of instability, anxiety, or upheaval — a way to "come home to the source" when life feels unsettled.
