About This Class

In this short but detailed tutorial, Bryan Kest walks through Ustrasana (Camel Pose) step by step, emphasizing three core elements: strong, forward-pressing quadriceps; a lifting, lengthening chest that draws away from the navel; and shoulders wrapping open to spread the chest wide. Starting from Child's Pose and rising to a kneeling position, students are guided through proper knee and foot placement (at least shoulder-width apart to protect the lower back), hand placement on the buttocks with fingers facing up or down, and the optional head drop. From this foundational version, Bryan offers a progression to full Camel Pose with hands reaching back to the heels or soles of the feet. He emphasizes active engagement throughout — pressing through the tops of the feet, maintaining active quads, and keeping the chest lifted — and closes with a slow, mindful exit. The class is framed around personal exploration, with modifications and intensity cues woven throughout.
