About This Class
Bryan Kest leads an intentionally "eclectic" dynamic flow that defies a conventional warm-up structure, instead diving straight into breath-centred exploration. The class opens in child's pose and down dog before layering in plank holds, cobra, locust, and forearm down dog for upper-body heat. The bulk of the class is a richly detailed bilateral standing sequence — including runner's lunge, crescent lunge, balancing lunge, twisting triangle, Virabhadrasana (hero/warrior), and deep pigeon — that comprehensively targets the hips, hamstrings, quads, spine, and shoulders. A frog pose section on the floor adds an unusual inner-groin and hip opener. The class closes with supine core work (single- and double-leg lowers with shoulder lifts), gentle spinal twists, and an extended savasana punctuated by a guided mindfulness exercise: sustaining attention on the subtle breath to cultivate gaps between thoughts. Throughout, Bryan consistently returns to the instruction to breathe deep and free, treating breath as the thread connecting physical effort to meditative presence. He encourages students to find their own personal threshold in every pose rather than comparing or pushing past comfort.

Welcome, Alyson, I am happy to discover someone, of approximately my own age, participating in Power Yoga, I am also appreciative that Bryan acknowledges that yogis may be in their “60’s”. Today, a strap and block were useful props to help access a couple of poses. Truly, jennoblensb, Bryan’s and Selby’s practice was a delight.

As a kid I was monkey bar queen. As a 72 year old I can’t do one pull up. But, I can do Bryan’s upper body strengthening with knees on the floor, or not, depending on the day. I loved this one. Especially those hip openers. Thank you for another down dog practice.

This class is a delight! The “eclectic” flow is fantastic, sure. But we also get a delicious dollop of humanity from our trusted guide, Bryan. Don’t miss this one, folks…

This was great, as always, but I really love how out of order everything felt. It’s nice to shake up what you think is going to happen next. I think you should call it. “The dog is out.” Sorry I couldn’t seem to get to the chat box.
