About This Class

This approachable Yin class with Dan Ward opens and closes in Savasana, framing the entire practice as an inward journey from the outer world to the inner body. Students move through a carefully sequenced series of floor-based supine stretches — including hamstring walks, figure-four threading, happy baby, and double pigeon — before transitioning through all-fours work, Sphinx and Cobra, low lunge variations with shoulder-under ankle binds, and seated postures like Ardha Matsyendrasana, Virasana, and Upavistha Konasana. Standing interludes include Tadasana, Pada Rajasana (standing on hands), straddle forward folds, and a kneeling side-stretch and Ustrasana sequence. Eagle arms and Gomukhasana arms are woven in seated to address the upper back and shoulders. Throughout, Dan emphasizes oppositional energy, active feet, steady nasal breath with an ocean-like quality, and radical acceptance of where the body is today. The pace is slow with long holds and a deeply introspective, calming tone — ideal for releasing hip tightness, back tension, and the cumulative stress of modern life.

Don’t be fooled-this class is not easy! A great teacher with excellent cues!

That was amazing! A wee bit of work, some cool “lizard” flows and lots of good stretches. I needed something on the mellower side. Thanks so much Dan!
