About This Class

This 60-minute flow class with Dan Ward is framed entirely around self-compassion and intentional movement. It opens with seated cross-legged breathing and Ujjayi Pranayama to settle the mind, then builds methodically through Surya Namaskar rounds, Crescent Warrior, Warrior One, Warrior Two, Triangle Pose (Trikonasana), Chair Pose, standing splits, Warrior Three, and twisted lunges. A progressive backbend sequence runs through Salabhasana (Locust), Cobra, Dhanurasana (Bow Pose), and Camel Pose (Ustrasana), with careful preparatory cues to protect the low back. Hip-opening work includes Baddha Konasana, supine twists, Pigeon Pose (or reclined thread-the-needle), reclined cross-legged twists, and Happy Baby. Throughout, Dan emphasizes breath awareness, proprioceptive feedback, balancing effort with ease, and the philosophy that yoga is a tool for wellbeing — not punishment. Props such as blocks and chairs are consistently offered, and students are repeatedly invited to modify, skip Vinyasas, or use walls for balance work. The class closes with Savasana and a seated meditation bow.

I’m so glad to have discovered Dan! This class is one of the best examples why. His cues are so unique and interesting. The way he simplifies a mindset and carries the class (virtually or in person) is brilliant! I haven’t even mentioned the sequence yet which is always safe and intelligent! Thanks, Dan!

Excellent class. The sequences are built to warm you and prepare you for deeper and deeper poses and it works. I am feeling great after. Thanks.

The perfect class the day after a long travel day. A slow, steady mindful opening of my body, just what I needed. And that little adjustment in the standing foot and inner leg for one legged standing forward bend, seriously, I felt my extended leg break the cloud cover! Haha! Amazing. Thanks Dan…???♥️

Really beautiful class. I’ve done this class several times when I’m tired or need to take the pace back. I love the simplicity of the poses (there are no tricks) and it always amazes me how quickly shavasana comes around. I don’t know where the time disappears to. Thanks so much.

An excellent, easy, gentle flow. Just what I needed before bed. Thank you. My only suggestion would be that you call it Dan Ward facing dog for now on. Namaste.

Lots of helpful cues I hadn’t heard before. However, I wouldn’t rate this as a flow class or as “dynamic.” It is a much slower pace and focused on the good stretches.

Thank you, Dan, during our beautiful country’s trying times, yours is a perfect yoga practice and advice regarding being Complacent. One of my favorite quotes of Dr. Albert Einstein is, ” Don’t forget, don’t stop questioning”. I am deeply grateful for you and Power Yoga. Namaste.
