About This Class
This prop-rich restorative class opens with Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing) to balance the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems before moving through a carefully sequenced series of long-held, fully supported poses. Supta Baddha Konasana (supported reclining bound angle) is set up with bolster, blocks, strap, and blanket to expand the front body and chest. A supported seated forward fold over a bolster follows, targeting the spine and back muscles with a forehead-to-block connection that stimulates the vagus nerve. Supported lateral stretches (side-lying over the bolster) open the side body and shoulders. The class culminates in Viparita Karani (legs up the wall) with a bolster under the pelvis to create a gentle inversion that relieves leg fatigue and deepens relaxation, before a final Savasana. Throughout, the instructor weaves in mindfulness of sensation, slow deep breathing, and parasympathetic activation — framing the practice as a conscious antidote to stress, overwhelm, and the demands of daily life. The class explicitly supports sleep improvement, stress and cortisol reduction, nervous system balance, and relief from tension accumulated from sitting or standing.

Very nice relaxation class. I appreciated the suggestions on alternatives for the equipment I didn’t have too~
